I started watching this Chinovela 家，N次方 Jia, NCiFang. I got a bit curious about it since its YouKu rating has a perfect score of 10! Aside from which, I know 2 of the actors in the Chinovela so it wasn't really hard being convinced to watch the series. The Chinovela is basically about 2 families becoming one. Both parents have been single/widowed with children.
I honestly had a gut feel how corny the story line is, but I just couldn't stop watching out of curiosity. I watched until I felt that it was slowly jumping the shark, and stayed because of them...
Model/actor 贺刚 HeGang was simply hot playing handsome rich kid in the Chinovela. He doesn't even have to say a word to be pretty like that! (Although he needs to improve his acting skills!)
...and then there is his love team, 王子文 WangZiWen. There is something about her that annoys and attracts (naaaliw) me at the same time. For one thing, she plays like a kid, and even a little bit childish for her age. The only thing that attracts me about her is the fact that she looks almost exactly like Mariel Rodriguez. Seriously.
Anyway, the Chinovela is completely corny. I already felt like vomiting halfway through it. I don't know think it's me not liking cheesy and mushy family dramas like Brothers and Sisters, but this one is really too much for me to even handle. I would understand that longing for a complete family is not easy for kids with single parents, but I don't think it's even realistic for their 4 children to fall in love with each other. Watching the Chinovela wasn't really a pleasant experience. I wouldn't buy a DVD copy of it if only I speak fluent Mandarin. It pains me to watch it again just to study whatever words they're using that I don't know yet! hayyy.
